Today I had the opportunity to be the featured guest on the new Adobe Express + Firefly Webinar series–providing a set of pedagogical orientations for getting started with this suite of tools. So I crafted a 4-3-2-1 approach:
- offering 4 impact values for bringing digital literacy into your courses
- sharing 3 approaches to integrating digital literacy into the curriculum
- presenting 2 example low-stakes activities for faculty and students
- and challenging them to try 1 new thing with Express.
My Express Page guide for the event can be found here: https://new.express.adobe.com/webpage/6pAobYP7S1xU9
I also had the pleasure to be joined by India Madsen, former intern at JUMP+, who completed the activities I presented in real time. It offered a fairly authentic look into how the process goes because while India may have been an intern with me, she has never had a class with me (she is currently an undergraduate at York University in Canada). And, as always, while I think what I presented went well, I’m 100% positive her talking about what she created and the value of digital literacy/digital creativity for her as a soon-to-be-graduate carried the day. The student voice is always important, but when working with faculty and/or presenting to stakeholders, the student voice just resonates at a higher frequency.
In any case, not sure if this is a one-and-done kind of engagement with the webinar series or part of a larger set of engagements. But it was fun to be able to share some quick tips and insights and offer some easy-access points for the ~200 participating attendees.
