Today I have the pleasure of delivering a faculty development session for St. Charles Catholic School, a K-8 institution in Bloomington, IN. The task is to offer something of an overview of the Generative AI, situate critical and creative considerations in the educational context, guide participants through some basic steps of using a couple different platforms, and facilitate a conversation. Of course, my approach (whenever possible) is always encouraging learning through play, so I want to get them playing with the tools (individually and/or in groups) and to offer a few challenges for them to complete. I find that getting participants into hands-on engagements and fostering conversations as they collaborative work to complete a challenge to be one of the quickest ways to expose the potential (good and bad) of these platforms.
While I am certain to make many adjustments on the fly today (i.e., asking for more K-12 use cases than my usual go-to examples), as I like working with participants as much as possible rather than running a fixed set of engagements, the base content for my presentation is here: https://new.express.adobe.com/webpage/5ot0TdeXSjIEr
