GenAI, In-class Activities, & DL Café

Today I get the pleasure of participating in my third (maybe 4th) Adobe Digital Literacy Café. I’ll be joining Bruce Fraser of Indian River State College, Daniel Anderson of UNC Chapel Hill, and Todd Taylor (host and Adobe Pedagogical Evangelist) to talk about different approaches for integrating Generative AI into the classroom, to showcase some examples, and to offer insights and reflections on what has worked (and perhaps what has not).

I’ll be sharing 3 activities from my ENG-W171: Projects in Digital Literacy course this semester, including one activity created by Sarah Fischer, who was doing a sort of guest-lecture/guest-teaching engagement. I can’t show any of the student projects yet (as I haven’t asked them for permission, as I usually wait until the semester is over), but I definitely can share insights on what we learned. (I say “we” because this class has 96 students and I lead a team of instructors: myself and 3 apprentice instructors, Sarah Lawler, Joanna Gordon, and Jason Michalek.)

I’ll also be sharing the Express guide for the GenAi, ChatGPT, and Syllabi webinar I did for IU a few weeks back, including the PDF for the Ethics of Practice guide I created.
